Education

Every Girl Deserves the Chance to Learn. Every Girl Deserves a Future.

Education is a fundamental human right—yet around the world, 129 million girls are out of school (UNESCO). In the Democratic Republic of Congo, only 51% of girls complete lower secondary school, and just a fraction continue to higher education. We are here to change that.

At Young Women Emerge (YWE), we believe that when girls are educated, everything changes. They gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to rise out of poverty, challenge injustice, and lead their communities toward a brighter future. Educated girls are more likely to pursue careers, earn higher incomes, and champion equality and social change.

The impact doesn’t stop with them. Educating girls:

  • Reduces child marriage and early pregnancies

  • Improves family health and nutrition

  • Strengthens economies

  • Builds more peaceful, resilient societies

  • Empowers girls to resist and speak out against gender-based violence

Education opens doors to opportunity, dignity, and independence—not only for each girl, but for the society she strengthens. We know that when girls learn, they lead—and when they lead, entire communities are lifted.

Every girl deserves that chance. Every girl deserves that future.

When girls thrive, we all thrive.
